Our Mission:
The Southeast Asia Children's Project (SACP) was founded in 2004 and is focused on providing clinical training to build social and mental health service infrastructure in Southeast Asia. SACP has an additional focus on training clinicians who treat victims of human trafficking.
SACP support visits by professors from US universities to Southeast Asia and collaborates with universities, coalitions of NGO's, and specific social welfare programs. Examples of our work include:
- SACP is supporting visits by representatives of US departments of social work in the hopes of fostering
relationships with universities in Southeast Asia. The next grant cycle is for visits during 2012 and 2013.
- SACP grants have supported social work professional groups in Cambodia and Vietnam. SACP is a
co-sponsor of the upcoming 2011 meeting of the Cambodian Psychosocial Association.
- Since 2005 SACP has collaborated with West Virginia University and An Giang University to organize a yearly
social work workshop in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam which has attracted social service clinicians from many
regions of Vietnam and Cambodia.
- Since 2005, SACP has conducted yearly trainings of social workers for COSECAM, a coalition of 24 NGO's
in Cambodia that work against the sexual exploitation of children.
- SACP has worked with COSA and other groups in Thailand and with Project ADAPT in Vietnam to train shelter
staff who serve victims of human trafficking or who work with families and communities to prevent trafficking.
- SACP has also been an organizer and sponsor of Humans For Sale, a photography exhibit focused on educating
the public about human trafficking.
- SACP supports the development of new social work organizations by facilitating the translation of resource
materials into local languages.
